Obsidian Entertainment has announced that Grounded 2: Into the Abyss will arrive on August 11, introducing several new biomes and opening up the murky depths of Brookhollow Park’s pond for the first time.
The update will add one of the largest areas to Grounded 2 so far, giving players the chance to explore both above and below the waterline while discovering new resources, creatures, equipment, and progression systems.
What’s New?
Among the fresh locations is Gnarly Bark, a vertically designed biome built around a large hollow tree. The Bayou and Bridge area offers a swamp-like environment filled with shallow and muddy water, while Skunk Pond introduces full three-dimensional underwater exploration — a first for the game.
Reaching the deepest sections will require new diving suits that allow you to stay submerged for longer periods. Familiar threats like the koi fish and diving bell spider will return, alongside additional dangers that Obsidian has yet to reveal.
A New Way to Get Around
Travelling across the expanded map should become easier with the Toe-biter Buggy. Unlike existing mounts, this new companion is amphibious — capable of transporting players across both land and water. No more switching between rides just to cross a puddle.
PS5 Launch and Early Access
Into the Abyss will arrive alongside the PlayStation 5 version of Grounded 2. The survival game is already available in early access on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with access also included through PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.
Final Word
With new biomes, deeper exploration, and a whole new way to traverse Brookhollow Park, Into the Abyss is shaping up to be the biggest update Grounded 2 has seen yet. Mark your calendars for August 11 — and don’t forget to hold your breath.
Stay tuned for more coverage as we get closer to the update’s release. The depths are calling.
